The Problem and the Solution
The classic fibre optic rollout is often hampered by lengthy approval processes, a shortage of skilled workers, and rising construction costs. Furthermore, conventional installation requires complex civil engineering and splicing work, which accounts for 80 percent of the total costs.
Withย CEMS FIBERยฎ (patent pending)ย BICON AGยฎ is revolutionising the approach to broadband rollout. The system shifts the route from deep underground to directly beneath the pavement surface: robust GRP ducts are laid flat and minimally invasively directly under the paving, making costly civil engineering work unnecessary.
Pre-fabricated fibre optic cables are then inserted into these prepared channels. As these cables are already plug-ready ex-works, time-consuming processes such as blowing in the fibres or on-site splicing are completely eliminated. Instead, the components are connected via a simple plug-in system.
Through this combination of reduced civil engineering and pre-assembled cabling, project costs are massively reduced, while expansion is accelerated by up to four times.

In the districts of Reichenbuch, Lohrbach and Sattelbach, we have successfully completed the fibre optic expansion.
