Two projects – one city

Zwei Projekte – Eine Stadt

Groundbreaking ceremony in Hechingen for two broadband expansion projects on behalf of the city of Hechingen

A further step towards expanding a comprehensive fibre-optic network in Hechingen was taken yesterday on Brunnenstraße: construction work to expand the network in Brunnenstraße itself and in Beuren and Schlatt was kicked off with a symbolic ground-breaking ceremony. Attendees from the city of Hechingen included Mayor Philipp Hahn and broadband coordinator Caren Wagner, alongside local mayors Peter Gantner from Beuren and Jürgen Schuler from Schlatt. The construction project is being managed by engineer Andreas Mail from the Dreher und Stetter engineering office in Empfingen.

More specifically, two projects were launched: firstly, the expansion of the fibre-optic network in Brunnenstraße. Here, the connections for the commercial enterprises are being brought directly to the building. A total of 9,300 metres of empty conduit are needed to supply the Hechingen districts of Beuren and Schlatt with fibre optics via a backbone network. The street cabinets in the villages are being connected there, from where the connection to the end user continues using the existing copper cable.
